Monday, November 18, has been declared a national holiday in Argentina, commemorating National Sovereignty Day. According to Law 27.399, which establishes public holidays and long weekends in the country, when a national holiday falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday, it is moved to the preceding Monday. Therefore, the upcoming long weekend will last from Saturday, November 16, to Monday, November 18.
National Sovereignty Day is celebrated on November 20, a day that commemorates an important historical event for the country. On the occasion of this holiday, various cultural and gastronomic activities will take place in different areas of Argentina. There will be events in iconic locations such as Plaza Malvinas, the Julio López Cultural Center in Los Hornos, and other spaces in the city, as well as museum circuits and participation from independent theaters.
On November 18, National Sovereignty Day is celebrated in honor of a key event in Argentine history. Due to this date, a new holiday has been declared for Tuesday, November 19, which will create a long weekend of four consecutive days for people to enjoy a break or embark on a tourist getaway.
In addition to commemorating National Sovereignty, November 19 marks the founding anniversary of La Plata, the capital of Buenos Aires Province, which turns 139 years old. On this date, a non-working holiday has also been declared for public employees of the city and branches of Banco Provincia. In La Plata, events will take place to commemorate this important date.
